Making sense of the universe is a major goal of science, and theories of this nature are referred to as ‘Theories of Everything.’ Unfortunately, one aspect of the universe that is entirely neglected in these theories is life, often viewed as a fluke or worse biological scum. Adopting a novel perspective, I posit in A Symbiotic Model of the Universe that biological systems might reveal key processes of the universe they are derived from. Life forms are characterized by interconnectivity, interdependence, and symbiosis. These features also appear to characterize the universe - Essentially we live in an entangled world where nothing exists independent of other entities, and there are always interactions occurring. Even in the absence of an interaction change occurs based on spontaneous progression from low to high entropy (order to disorder), and such change can impact on other entities. A manner of viewing these events is that potentialities are actualized by interactions or spontaneous entropy shifts. Low entropy is always applied either by the application of higher quality energy to maintain greater order, as in a person consuming a meal to preserve physiological functions, or a spontaneous shift from low to high entropy. Boundary conditions of the universe, such as the impossibility of reaching absolute zero where interactions would cease, ensure that change always occurs.

Crucial to this symbiotic perspective, are what will be referred to as the macro matter-energy world that we are familiar with, the quantum world, and space-time. The theory proposes that the quantum world provides potentialities only varying in probability to the macro matter-energy world. Interactions and spontaneous entropy shifts in the macro matter-energy world actualize certain of these potentialities. The corresponding information is stored in a permanent quantum actualization record likely residing in another dimension. This quantum actualization record embodies the low entropy that was applied, based on information itself representing a highly ordered low entropy event. So far the interconnectedness of the macro matter-energy and quantum worlds is described but where does space-time fit in? There is no absolute space or time, but there is absolute space-time. Space-time provides existence to the universe; not an unreasonable assumption considering that for anything to exist there must be space and some temporal component. In a symbiotic fashion space-time is proposed to benefit from the low entropy embodied in the quantum actualization record. According to the theory presented life has a major role to play in the universe as the ultimate entropy facilitator, applying low entropy in the numerous interactions generated by biological entities.
